A Short History of Horses
Horses were wild animals that roamed freely on our planet. Their domestication began around 4000 BC when people in Central Asia started to realize their importance. The horses for sale and ponies for sale you see today are much bigger and stronger than their ancestors were a few thousands of years ago. The Indo-Europeans started to breed these stallions at stud to be bigger and stronger, so people could use them as a mode of transportation.
The first known civilization to use horses to pull chariots was the Shang Dynasty in China around the year 1200 BC. After that it was used by the Greeks and then the trend continued. Horses then started playing a key role in wars where they were used to pull chariots, send urgent messages and to carry food, weapons and tents.
Today, there are very few places where horses still run wild, most of them are used for domestic purposes, meat, or for making leather.
